The Empowerment Advocate
Lavalais LPC, PLLC
Hello, it's nice to meet you
Advocating for change through education, conversation & empowerment.
It's Okay to not be Okay
Today's society has stereotyped its views about mental illness and how it affects the average person. What one says can make those who have a form of mental illness afraid as well as those who don't. Society would have us believe that people with mental health issues are violent or dangerous, which we can conclude that this makes everyone on the same level of being fearful. The emotion fear presents itself to both groups of people. Because both groups fear, it then furthers shows up to everyone as danger. We can avoid danger by simply seeking help and educating ourselves. It is necessary that we understand that if you feel you need help, that you ask for it. Your healing is most important not only for you but also your loved ones and society. Here you are in no judgment zone and a safe place.

Meet Larneka Lavalais | Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Mental Health Advocate
We had the good fortune of connecting with Larneka Lavalais and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Larneka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process regarding starting my own business came in the form of fulfilling a need in the community. I wanted to reach the underserved in the community that were often overlooked. I wanted to do it my way. I wasn’t concerned about quotas or how much money I would bring in. I just wanted to help.
Congratulations Nickerra Sam!!!
"How It's Going..."
I would like to congradulate this year's scholarship recipient, Nickerra Sam.
Nickerra just completed her Freshman Year at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Nickerra received a scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year, and stepped out on faith to request a renewal of her scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year. In her first year, she able to adjust to away-from-home living, participate in two college vocal competitions, various on campus performances, and her first HBCU Collaborative Choir performance for Black History month.
Nickerra assures us that she will maintain Good Standing in her coursework and continue to compete when the opportunities are given to her, all the while striving for her SPOT ON BROADWAY.
Keep up the good work!!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾❤️Add a description here.
